OUR PEOPLE - OUR PRIDE
This is where one of the great sons of Africa, Dr Oliver Reginald Tambo, the former President of the ANC, was born and bred. We boast of many other sons and daughters who made an unprecedented contribution in placing SA where it is today and some continue to do so in government and the private sector. These sons and daughters were at the centre of the Pondo Revolt of 1961, that resisted the betterment schemes.
We are a coastal municipality, which stretches between Umtamvuna and Mtentu Rivers, with pristine beaches and scenic estuaries. This coast line is part of the famous Wild Coast and Pondoland centre of endemism that boosts of valuable flora and fauna found no where else in the world.
